Mindset Skills For A Happier & More Fulfilled Life

We've all got something to work on and I believe style is a pretty amazing life coach.

It's certainly helped me over the years and I use these principles to coach my clients to be successful and use these mindsets and behaviours, beyond the clothes.

Want a stronger mindset? Here is how working on your style will give you the skills for a happier and more fulfilled life:

1. Work with what you’ve got

Radical self acceptance of your body shape, who you are and where you've come from. Clothes force us to accept and celebrate who we are. You can't be your neighbour or your colleague. No point in comparing. Focus on you!

2.Be in touch and listen to your body and instinct

What does your internal voice say? The positive one that sits in your body, not the one chatting away in your head. The deep knowing one. Let her lead the way.

3.Show up for and nurture yourself

It's amazing how many women are not great at this. They can do it for their teams, their families, their friends but when it comes to themselves. Eeek! That time in front of the mirror or the time working out or the time getting an outfit ready helps us practise these moments of self care.

4.Take care of what you own

Look after those beautiful clothes. Know how to launder them, fold them away, put them on beautiful hangers and welcome them into your life. No throw away fashion or life here!

5.Connect with your creativity and sense of curiosity

Trying new combinations of outfits, exploring our colour preference, our ability to combine prints or play with make up and hair (if that's right for you, see point 12!).

6.Never stay stagnant

Keep growing and try something new. Explore different sides of yourself. For example - when did you last feel sexy?
Is it time to try on a more silky item and connect with that side of you?

7.Let go of the past, live in the present and be prepared for the future

Why are you holding onto that item that is too small for you? Are you reminiscing about an older version of yourself? Style can also give you practical results in helping people to perceive and understand you and to take the stress out of invitations and key moments in your life.

8.Live with intention

How you choose to get dressed, what you choose to buy and where you spend your money, and how you care for you. It's all wrapped up in choices around your clothes. Don't let it pass you by or put up with a life you don't really want.

9.Get clear on what you really want and give yourself PERMISSION to have it

This is not just about stuff you own but how you want to think of yourself. Feeling outdated but always seen yourself as vibrant and alive. Then get clear on what feeling is missing and use your intentional dressing to close the gap.

10.Know yourself inside and out

What are your tastes? What colours do you love? If I was to ask you what fabrics you felt best in, would you know? Be your greatest expert on yourself.

11.Never give up on yourself

I think of my granny Annie, until her dying day she got dressed, She worked out, she had a smile on her face, she engaged with people and made herself visible and known.

12.Find the balance and boundaries that are right for you to help you step into the future you desire

What's too much in an outfit, what stretches your boundaries but feels new? What is the right balance between new and preloved? Designer and high street? Classic and trend? Let's create your style rules!

13.TRUST in yourself, the future and that it’s going to be ok

Wow this is a biggie. I work with my clients to give them the tools for life so that they can trust in their decisions and ensure they know they did the right thing. Stepping out the house with a sense of assuredness.

So what's it for you? Generally the thing that is missing in our wardrobes then is missing in our wider life.

If you were to pick one, what do you want to work on?
